How do I quit my job and work for myself?

Don't quit your job. Build leverage on the side until your side income exceeds your burn rate. Then the job quits itself.

Most people think about quitting as a leap. It's not. It's a math problem. Know your burn rate — what it costs to live each month. Build income sources outside your job until they cover that number. Then leaving isn't risky. Staying is.

Start with evenings and weekends. One hour per day building something that compounds. A content practice, a digital product, a service you can productize. The constraint of limited time forces you to focus on what matters.

The transition: service first (trade skill for money), then product (package the skill so it sells without you). Most people skip to product. Don't. The service teaches you what people actually pay for. The product scales what the service proved.

When you figure out how to turn $1 into $2, you will be hard to employ.
